THOROUGH EXAMINATION
Be Safe, Be Legal, Get Your Forklift Truck/Handler Tested at Wight Materials Handling
Whether you own your forklift truck/handler or hire it, the law demands you hold a current Report of Thorough Examination. If you fail to comply, the consequences can include risk of prosecution, fines and in some cases your insurance may be invalidated.
Under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER 98) and Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER 98), a Thorough Examination will assess a truck’s mast, chains, carriage, forks, tilt mechanism, overhead guard, steering, seat mountings, tyres and brakes on a yearly basis, or sooner if necessary.
Holding a valid Report of Thorough Examination is a legal requirement for all forklift truck operators, whether it is owned, leased or on hire. Failure to produce this report can lead to prosecution or invalidation of insurance. The report is considered very similar to the MOT system in the motor industry.
The easy way to ensure your responsibility is maintained, is for our certified technicians to come to your site and carry out the Thorough Examination on your machine plus all its attachments to give you peace of mind and make you legal. You will then hold the industry standard LOLER certificate as evidence of your safety inspection.
